  • The latest round of virus attacks have been exceptionally dangerous. Appearing as signed official installers, these trojans can wreck a windows machine, requiring a complete reinstall of Windows. By mucking with the digital certificates used by Microsoft and others to verify updates/installers, the virus can render a Windows machine unable to update itself in anyway, even after the virus has been completely cleaned off. We have seen many machines with this infection since Thanksgiving. So please be careful and stay aware of what you are clicking or installing!

  • Another one of our long time clients – McPeak Motors – is running a 10% of service special this week. McPeak offers used cars for sale, but also has a full service department, rents U-Hauls, and sells sheds/storage buildings. When they opened, they inheirited many computers and an aging network. IT Xpress updated their networking, moved critical systems to backup power, added customer accessible WiFi, tuned up numerous desktops, and assisted with many other IT infrastructure needs.

  • We are seeing a number of computers come in with a nasty virus called Sirefef.B Not only will it open your computer up to other infections, it is installing the ‘ZeroAccess’ rootkit which can cause your files to be ‘hidden’ and/or your network connection to stop working. MalwareBytes and other Anti-Virus programs will clean the virus, but rarely fix the damage. We can often repair the damage without a complete windows reinstall. So if you or a friend have this type of trouble with your PC, let us get you back online!
