How does it work? The information on a disc is stored on a reflective film sandwiched between two clear layers of plastic. The bottom layer is thicker than the top and can be ground down slightly and polished back to a flat smooth surface without affecting the information inside the disc.

Note: Damage to a disc that goes deep enough to reach the reflective inner layer cannot be repaired. We also cannot repair broken or cracked discs. Scratches and other damage to the printed side of discs cannot be repaired, but also will not affect the playback of the disc itself unless the scratches are deep enough to reach the reflective inner layer.
