Knock on wood I have NOT encountered this before, but I can say I've found some scary stuff inside computers we've upgraded and repaired. Desktops really need to be cleaned once a year by a technician (no vacuuming it yourself is not good – you can zap parts. We use a specially grounded setup) One of the top things that can slow a computer down? CPU heatsinks clogged with dust. If they aren't being cooled enough, they slow down to protect themselves. We can clean desktops while you wait! $35. Laptops too!
